Burton were in action on Friday night to kick-off the latest weekend of action, but it wasn’t a good night for us as we returned to losing ways having ended a losing streak last time out.

The unbeaten run at the Pirelli Stadium, in actual fact a 100% home record, was ended as Burton slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Cambridge United.

Cambridge went into the lead, and took this into half time, when Harrison Dunk’s cross was headed home by Tom Elliott (35).

An equaliser couldn’t be found and shortly passed the hour Cambridge doubled their advantage. Dunk was again the provider as he set up Ryan Donaldson (64), who made no mistake, to make it two-nil and send the visitors someway on the road to victory.

The points were without question secured by Cambridge when Kwesi Appiah gave Elliot (76) another chance, which he happily took, to make it three.

Lucas Akins (81) pulled one back late on for us, to continue his impressive Brewers form, but it was too late as we lost again.

At this stage we retain top spot but should Wycombe Wanderers, Bury or Southend win then will lose this, if all three win we’ll find ourselves out of the top three.
