Burton first game without Gary Rowett ended in a draw against in-form Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon.

We would have started with a win had it not to be for Plymouth’s second half equaliser from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Brewers had the better of the opening exchanges and would have been ahead had it not been for Plymouth ‘keeper Luke McCormick who made a fine save to keep out Matt Palmer’s header, Stuart Beavon was also kept out by him.

We took the lead when Palmer and Beavon combined to give Alex MacDonald (32), against a former loanee club, the chance that he took as his effort just managed to sneak in off the post.

Plymouth became more threatening after the break with the chance to equalise coming when Phil Edwards brought down Reuben Reid. This gave Reid (70) the chance, which he made no mistake from to equalise for the visitors.

We pushed for a winner in caretaker boss Mike Whitlow’s first game in charge, with McCormick again saving really well to keep out sub Adam McGurk’s header as the game ended in a one-one draw.
