The baron spell has finally ended; the run of league (and cup) defeats that Burton have been on came to an end with a weekend win.

Burton’s 1-0 win over Cheltenham Town at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon not only ended a run of successive league 2 defeats it also took us back to the top of the table.

After struggling for goals in our last three games in all competitions, but shipping plenty of them, it was again looking like we would go another half without a goal until Stuart Beavon (34) drove home a low effort from a John Mousinho pass to put us one-nil up at the break.

Cheltenham, as expected, put us under second half pressure but we stood firm.

The visitors went going until the last with Jon McLaughlin forced into a save from Joe Hanks to maintain our one-nil lead, which was held to see a win for the first time in three league and cup games having been unbeaten until that point.
