The former Tottenham youngster arrived at the Pirelli Stadium expecting to be on the bench for the match against Barnet, but found himself in the starting eleven.

Midfielder John McGrath arrived late because of congestion on the motorway.

Maghoma took full advantage of McGrath’s misfortune and celebrated his first goal in the Football League.

‘We had a great opening few minutes and Jacques got a fantastic goal for us,’ said Peschisolido.’I’m delighted with the performance. The work-rate was there, which it needed to be against a side with good energy, good movement and youthful exuberance.

Maghoma added: ‘I’ve been feeling fit and sharp in the reserves so I think the gaffer trusted me to do a job for him – and to get a nice goal into the bargain was the icing on the cake for me.’

With three wins on the trot, Albion have moved up to eighth in the table, only goal difference leaves them out of the playoffs.

The Brewers next game is at Chesterfield on Saturday the 24th. Kick off is at 3:00pm
