Not A Job For Me!

Mike Whitlow has moved quickly to distance himself from becoming the next boss of Burton.

Whitlow stepped up from his academy role to help out following Gary Rowett’s departure for Birmingham City but has insisted that he’s got no ambition of become the next Brewers boss….

He enjoyed the task he was given of leading us against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, as we were pegged back to a one-one draw at the Pirelli Stadium, but taking on the job on a permanent basis isn’t for him.

After the game he said: ‘We didn’t quite get the result I was hoping for, but I’ve had a great week working with a first-class group of players.

‘But if you’re asking whether I want the job, the answer is ‘no’ – and I’ll be out with the under-13s in the morning with a smile on my face.’

Whitlow couldn’t fault his players efforts, although he did feel it was a game that we should have won but he also paid tribute to Plymouth who battled away to get their point.

As enjoyable as the experience was we’re left in little doubt where his future lies….
