The league two season continued for Burton in midweek as they looked to keep in the automatic promotion battle.

Burton went to Fratton Park to take on Portsmouth on Tuesday night and had to settle for a 0-0 draw and a share of the points on the south coast.

Gary Rowett knows that his side had the better of the chances but knows that once again the Brewers paid the price for not taking their chances, if they had they would have won and if they had done this in other games they wouldn’t be looking to get into the top three they would be at the top of the tree.

When all is said and done he was a little disappointed only to go home with a point.

The Brewers boss said: ‘It’s a good job for teams in our division that we don’t take all the chances we create because if you looked at it, we’d probably be five points clear at the top by now.

‘I felt we had by far the best of the first half. I really felt as if we controlled the half.

‘We had some good chances early on. We really should have taken them. Billy Kee had two excellent chances and couldn’t quite move his feet. Normally you would put your house on him scoring those.

‘I felt as though we defended really, really well. One of their shots hit the post and in truth, that was the only way they really hurt us.’
