Gary Rowett was always keen to avoid an excessive amount of trialists with Burton this summer, with this number something that he has tried to ‘limit’.

With the Brewers managing to bring in six signings this summer already, which were added to a squad that was virtually retained as much as he had wanted it too, this has given him more leeway with his final squad additions now.

A ‘position or two’ still needs to be filled so he now fills that this is the time to look at some trialist, too many wasn’t wanted before but now he feels the time could be right for this and has admitted that he will look at several trialists this week on top of the unnamed Dutch striker currently trying to win a deal.

Rowett told the Burton Mail: ‘We’ve made more signings early on this time and kept many of our players from last season, so we’ve not had the need to bring in six or seven trialists

‘We’ve probably got one or two positions to fill at this moment in time and have got other trialists for that as well.’

I feel this is a sensible move isn’t it, we are almost sorted out with out squad so it doesn’t hurt to look at a few trialists now as you might find a gem that could fill one of the final squad places, if not then you’ve not now wasted too much time on others as the squad, in the main, is already formed.
