Gary Rowett might have faith in the striker that Burton have, however he’s not ruling out the possibility of looking to add someone in this area if possible.

Billy Kee and Adam McGurk both had chances to give the Brewers the points against Bury on Saturday, but with neither taking them the game ended in a 0-0 draw and this meant that Kee’s scored only once in his last seven games and McGurk hasn’t netted since November.

Whilst still having “full confidence” in the pair, and the other strikers he had at the Pirelli Stadium, Rowett isn’t ruling out bringing in someone if the right person is available.

The boss told the Derby Telegraph: ‘While I’ve got every confidence that Adam and Billy will start scoring goals again soon, and with the likes of Knowlesy (Dominic Knowles) and Symesy (Michael Symes) to come in, what I would say is I don’t want to leave it down to that.

‘If we can recruit the right player, we will but that’s the key – it’s got to be the right person and we won’t rush into it.

‘Firstly, because we’ll spend more than I need to spend and, secondly, we’ve got to look at the long-term picture of it being the right signing over the next year or two.’

Rowett has identified someone in the “Calvin Zola” mould would be what he’s after, if only he’d not left for Aberdeen in the summer.

He’s constantly looking mind and if that right person catches his eye, if it’s right for Burton, Rowett will see what he can do.
