Matty Palmer has been confirmed as leaving Burton, going out on a youth loan for League 1 rivals Oldham.

Palmer’s made 13 appearances this season but his upcoming first-team football will come with Oldham for the next month with him joining the Latics until 27th February.

Following his exit Nigel Clough told the Official Website this was a move that’ll benefit him and give him the chance (and benefit his loan club) of football he’s lacked with the Brewers this season.

‘He has only started two league games out of 25 and the midfield is an area where we are strong in. It’s an ideal opportunity available for him to go and play some football. With John Sheridan being their manager we know that Matty will get on the ball with his style of play. Oldham have got Peterborough and Wigan coming up so we hope he can help them get the result we want.’

From his 13 outings this season, which as Clough points out only two have been league starts, he’s managed one goal so with this in the League Cup in the win over Bolton.
