If ever a goal was worthy of winning a game then the goal that won Burton the points on Saturday afternoon was exactly that as a stunning freekick late on saw us to a 2-1 win over Northampton Town at Sixfields.

Northampton had a great chance to go ahead around the midway mark of the first half but Kaid Mohamed managed to squandered a golden chance, which we made him pay for on half time.

Jacob Blyth (45), who had previously spent time on loan with Northampton, scored just before the break to see us go into this one-nil up.

The home side pushed to draw level but this didn’t come, until the closing stages when defender Ryan Cresswell (80) drew Northampton level and looked to have earned them a point.

Alex MacDonald (85) had other ideas though as he fired home a stunning 30-yard freekick to make sure we returned home with all three-points and a two-one win.
