Burton have found the ‘keeper they’ve been in search of this summer by snapping up former Bradford City man Jon McLaughlin.

The 26-year-old made 48-appearances for Bradford in league 1 last season but couldn’t agree terms on a new deal with them this summer and despite his contract expiring at the start of the month he continued to train with his former club.

Gary Rowett was delighted to bring in the ‘keeper, who he rated among the best in league 1 last season with him someone that he feels can help us get into that level at last.

Rowett told the official website: ‘He’s bought into what we’ve achieved and he’s looked at the summer signings and I think he’s hopeful of potentially getting into League One in the future.

‘He’s got fantastic temperament. He’s played over a hundred games for Bradford and was ever-present in League One.

‘He was as good as any other goalkeeper in the division, so I’m pleased to get him on board.’
McLaughlin has signed a one-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium.

Ironically former Brewers loanee ‘keeper Jordan Pickford looks as though he is going to be his replacement at Valley Parade as the Bradford no.1 having joined them on a season-long loan at the start of this week from Sunderland.

He and Dean Lyness will now compete to be our no.1!
