Burton will be without both Damien McCrory and Jimmy Phillips for varying spells at the start of the new season.

It was known that both would miss the start of the 2014/15 season due to injuries suffered last season but now a better timeframe has been put to the anticipated recovery and return dates for both.

Gary Rowett has told the Burton Mail that he is hoping to have McCrory back two-four-weeks into the season, so he could be fit and available again for September after an operation on his knee.

In spite of this injury problem Rowett showed faith in the left back by offering a long-term contract, which the 24-year-old eventually signed.

As for Phillips he tore his posterior cruciate ligament in April, his recovery process was always likely to be much longer but he should be back in training by November and back into first-team contention for Christmas.
