Let the season begin

Close to 1,000 Burton fans will be travelling to Shrewsbury for Brewers first game in the Football League. It is still unsure who the starting 11 will be, but Richard Walker is hoping he will be one of them.

The 31-year old signed on a free transfer over the summer from Bristol Rovers and hopes he will be able to continue the form he had last time he played against Shrewsbury.

During the League Two play-off final, Bristol City Rovers beat Shrewsbury to secure promotion, with Walker scoring twice.

Ironically enough, he was then sent on loan to the same club he helped keep in League Two.

In the Burton Mail Walker is quoted as saying “It`s funny how things turn out sometimes. I was at Shrewsbury all of last season and I still talk to some of the lads, but Saturday is all about Burton Albion for me and I would like nothing more than to go there and get three points.’

Peschisolido is also hoping to come away with the three points and has yet to announce the squad for the game, but has said that Marc Goodfellow has joined Keith Gilroy and Aaron Webster on the injury list.

Albion`s top scorer in pre-season, Robin Shroot could be one of eight debutantes for Burton after the busy summer.

It is also unlikely Kevin Poole will be starting in goal. He has not played a minute all preseason and will be on the bench as Shane Redmond (on loan from Nottingham Forest) should start.

Shaun Harrad will also miss the game due to suspension from last season.

Kick-off is at 3pm at the Prostar Stadium
