Burton, despite losing a two-goal lead to exit the Capital One Cup in midweek, are in good form in league two and will hope to extend this against Northampton on Saturday afternoon.

Rob Kiernan and Luke Rooney arrived on loan from Wigan and Swindon, respectively, this week with both expected to come into the squad, probably the starting XI for Burton.

Marcus Holness (hamstring), Nathan Stanton (Achilles), Chris Palmer (ankle) and Jimmy Phillips (foot) are all sidelined but Jacques Maghoma, Calvin Zola and Matthew Paterson could all return having been rested in midweek.

Northampton will have Clive Platt (calf) back, after he “rested” his recent troublesome injury last weekend.

Danny East is scheduled to return to Hull after this game as his loan ends but another loanee, Kemar Roofe, should be handed a start.
