Burton’s season started with a win, a familiar scoreline as last season was also the case to begin with!

The Brewers travelled to Oxford United’s Kassam Stadium on Saturday afternoon to kick-off the 2014/15 season and duly came back with all three-points after a 1-0 win.

With a goalless first half on the cards Akins (42) prodded in from eight-yards, following good play from Beavon, who impressed on his debut, to send Burton into the break one-up.

Knowles should have scored on the afternoon as well but from a similar distance as Akins he miss-kicked, the closest the home side came was a header from Potter but McLaughlin was equal to this as he kept a cleansheet on his debut.

More goals will be the target this season but as long as wins come that is the main thing!
