Burton were always going to lose, at some point, this season but to be beaten in such a manor on Tuesday night isn’t something many would have expected.

The unbeaten league and cup record that Burton had been on came to a crashing end when AFC Wimbledon stunned us at Kingsmeadow with a 3-0 win.

Wimbledon started very well with a Matt Tubbs volley only prevented from going in by the bar but nothing was going to stop him from putting the finishing touches to a fine George Francomb through ball as Tubbs (21) beat Jon McLaughlin.

A little past the half hour mark Adebayo Akinfenwa should have added a second but that second goal wasn’t too long in coming with Akinfenwa (37) heading home.

If we were to get back into the game, which never looked likely, this hope was extinguished midway through the second half when Akinfenwa turned home to give Francomb another assist and make it three-nil.

Wimbledon ended with 10-men when Tubbs was shown a second yellow card for a needless handball, which saw him taking an early bath but it didn’t stop the Brewers being soundly beaten.
